Breastfeeding reduces cancer risk

Posted on: August 27, 2009

Researchers said mothers with a family history of breast cancer were 59% less likely to develop tumours before the menopause if they breastfed their children.

Breastfeeding is, of course, associated with many other health benefits for both mother and child, however, the data suggests that women with a family history of breast cancer should be strongly encouraged to breastfeed.
